Support and Guidance For New Horse Owners

Hi, I’m Ellie founder of the New Horse Owners Support Network.

I’m mum to two Little boys we live on a farm in West Wales, with our horses and dogs.

I’m not from a horsey background, in fact, my mum is actual quite terrified of them.  I got the bug for horses aged 5 when I convinced my Dad to take me for a few lessons for my Christmas present, he thought it would be something I got over, unfortunately for him, I didn’t.

I always dreamed of owning my own horse but was never lucky enough to be in the position until I was into my 20s. The pull of horses was always there though and after school, I decided that I wanted to pursue a career with horses so I completed my degree in Equine behavior and training. I have spent the last 10 years working as a horse dealer, and last year I set up a successful horse transport business. Over the years I’ve owned and ridden hundreds of horses, luckily mostly they were all lovely but there were a few that had their quirks and I’ve come to know……

Over the years I have had to deal with knocks in my own confidence, after having time off after having my youngest little boy I really struggled with getting back in the saddle, particularly when it came to riding new horses that I didn’t know. over the years I have learned many coping strategies for dealing with my nervousness that I would love to pass on to others.

I set up the New Horse Owners Support Network because I’ve seen the struggles people go through when trying to find the perfect horse, I’ve also seen people who have brought the wrong one and the problems they have then faced. I really want to be able to help as many people as possible to find their dream horse and have the best possible journey with their new best friend.
